What we collect

Based on the current WordSprout database structure, we store the following categories of data:

  • Account and membership data: account name/type, member role, plan entitlement metadata.
  • Teacher profile data: display name, optional public handle, optional avatar path, and public page settings (tagline, bio, theme, list visibility).
  • School contact data: optional school name, optional school email, and timezone preference.
  • Classroom data: classes, join codes, and list publication records (including publish timing).
  • Learning content: word lists and words, including text, position, optional part of speech, definition, example sentence, and optional audio path.
  • Sharing data: list share codes, expiration/revocation settings, use counts, and local edit lock flags.
  • Optional learner/roster data where enabled: learner/student names, enrollments, and assignment status records.

How we use data

We use this data to provide account access, manage classes and spelling content, control publishing and sharing, support student practice in the iOS app, and respond to support and safety requests.

Public data controls

Teachers control whether their public page is enabled, which shared lists are visible, and whether school contact fields appear. Public list access is gated by active share/join code and publication rules.

Data sharing and sales

We do not sell personal data.
